A personal thought

To my past self and my future self.

Watching the video on the scientific power of meditation, I immediately think of myself and my career, the importance of teaching children to meditate, because it stimulates tolerance, memory and focuses on self awareness, which is very beneficial thinking in the processes of learning, individual and social development, in early childhood.

So I think about my past self, many time I felt stress and anguish in my school process and maybe I needed meditation to feel better and achieve my goals.
Then, I think about my future self, as an educator and I feel that meditation does work, I have many career classmates who practice it, if I see changes, they are calmer and with positive energies, so if we taught it since children, we would probably have children, less stressed, happier, more empathetic and we would reduce childhood tantrums, sadness and depression.

Currently, I don’t practice meditation, but I do breathing exercises and yoga, which also help me with stress levels and reconnect with myself, especially today with the pandemic we are experiencing. There are days when I’m very anxious and worried about everything I see on TV regarding viruses and people’s suffering, but I relaxing and breathe calm if it helps me to let those negative emotions flow and renew myself with good energy.

Finally, regarding my english class, I feel very calm and comfortable, since it has been very flexible in terms of the subject, which gives us freedom to take advantage of autonomous learning and development. I feel free and calme in this class.

Social issue: Education and public school in Chile

Undoubtedly, education is a problem that affects the whole of society, as it is of great importance for the development of people in their future lives, but the problem begins with the difference in quality of teaching between public and private schools. Generating in our country, Chile, differences to access higher education and that many of the students don’t enter the university or career they dream of. On the other hand, many public schools don’t have the necessary facilities for children to be educated. In addition, in southern Chile, schools are kilometers from the children's homes, making it impossible for them to study. It is very sad to know the big differences that exist between public and private schools, just for themes of money. And this reality affects a much part of society, generating stress and other diseases in families, wich see how their children can’t access a quality education, just because they don’t have the neccesary funds to pay for it.

Nowadays, many students in higher and secondary education struggle to find solutions that provide equality for all the children in our society, generating the same opportunities for everyones in access and permanence in the education.

My career

Choose what to be the rest of my life is difficult, but since i was a child knew that i liked the children’s development and the importance of the community in this process. So I knew that i had to choose between  obstetrics, basic pedagogy or preschool education. But, at the moment of applying i chose preschool education because it motivated me to think how i could help in the development of babys.
I went to study at the University of Chile and it has been beautiful experience due to the social approach they give to the career. Finally, i would like work in unconventional preschool education. For example: a children’s home (Sename) or kindergarten of hospital.
